Letting Go of Being Right
Many times we want to get our way, we want to have the last word. We see our point of view as being right and put down others viewpoints or beliefs. We can be stubborn and rigid. The result of this approach is often conflict in our relationships, heightened stress and less success in our endeavors.
How can we let go of being right? Firstly, respect others points of view even if we think they are wrong. We can agree to disagree.
Secondly, if we find ourselves in an argument with someone, deliberately stop talking. Let them have the last word. We don’t have to fix others or prove to them their ideas are wrong and our ideas are right. We can be confident in our beliefs, while accepting others beliefs.
Thirdly, reflect on our our attitudes or beliefs that seem to create conflict time and time again. Perhaps it’s time to modify or change these.
